FATHER PETER RETTIG, PAROCHIAL VICAR Hello and God bless you! My name if Fr. Peter Rettig, and I am so glad to have the opportunity to serve as parochial vicar at St. Joseph in East York. I cannot wait to get to know all of you throughout my time at St. Joseph’s. Fr. Steven Fernandez has asked me to provide a short bio for you all. I grew up in Waynesboro, PA, just south of Chambersburg. I entered seminary in 2014 and began formation at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia. After receiving my BA in philosophy there, I spent the 2017-2018 academic year abroad at Bidasoa Seminary in Pamplona, Spain. I finished seminary at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD in 2021. My first priestly assignment was at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Lewistown, PA and St. Jude Thaddeus Parish in Mifflintown, PA. Since my previous assignment included two parishes, I wore a few hats, so to speak. I was the coordinator for OCIA, the chaplain of both Knights of Columbus councils, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and the young men’s group, the leader for both youth groups, and chaplain for Spanish ministry in Mifflintown. My hobbies include anything outdoor oriented. I enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking, walking, and bike riding. I would love to connect with anyone who shares the same hobbies at the parish. At this new assignment my goal is to do God’s will by helping get all the parishioners of St. Joseph’s to Heaven. And, lastly, I ask one thing of you all – that you help me bring me to Heaven as well. May God bless you! Fr. Rettig
