They escaped death and eventually got to a safe place and to freedom. A former Lutheran missionary helped the family get to the United States. Today, Kolu is a nurse at York Hospital and her husband is an engineer at Pixelle in Spring Grove, PA. Kolu is the CEO and principal founder of a National non-profit organization called Nurse2Nurse which was birthed when York Hospital decided to change their uniform code. She saw this as an opportunity to help nurses in Liberia by partnering with nurses at York Hospital to donate their previous and slightly used scrubs. As a result, over 7,000 scrubs were sent to Liberia to serve nurses in 14 medical facilities. This picture is of Kolu Mator and Nurse2Nurse Board Members. Kolu is second from the right, and her husband, Joe Mator is second from the left. Joe will be at the event as well; as he too, lived this amazing journey of survival and deeply felt the presence of God by his side the entire way. Kolu, her family, along with some of her York Hospital nurses decided to form Nurse2Nurse as a national organization with the goal and mission of enhancing the quality of care in underdeveloped communities, by educating, empowering and equipping healthcare professionals with necessary resources. This effort made our local news. Now Nurse2Nurse is trying to put small nursing bags together, each with a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, thermometer and face shield for CPR. She will have a basket in the back of Church for donations at the end of her talk on November 21st.
