The Box of Joy Gifts program will run from now until Nov. 10th. This program benefits children in third-world countries who may be receiving a Christmas gift for the first time. Parish children, both young and old, may participate in this very important program. Box of Joy instructions and materials will be available in the parish lobby. Basic guidance is as follows:
Take a Box of Joy flyer/envelope with detailed instructions and one easy to assemble shoe box per child you wish to sponsor.
2Go shopping. Use the Gift Ideas information in the flyer to identify desirable items. Highly desired items include: deflated soccer balls with hand pump, dolls, crayons, coloring books, toothbrush/toothpaste, bar soap, combs, brushes, manicure kits, hard candy & gum, T-shirts, sunglasses, and drawstring bags.
Fill your box with those small gifts. Include a note to the child who will be receiving your gift, if you wish.
Place a rubber band around the shoe box to hold the contents together.
Determine how you will provide the $9 for shipping: Pay online at boxofjoy.org OR Make a check to Cross Catholic Outreach. Tear the flyer at the perforated section, place the check inside, and seal it. Mail the envelope or place it under the rubber band of the shoe box for the Knights of Columbus team leader to process for you.
Your Box of Joy can be dropped off at the parish entrance desk any time. Boxes will be collected through November 10th.
