Are you interested in becoming Catholic or completing your Sacraments of Initiation?
Regardless of your answer to these questions, full initiation into the Catholic Church first requires discernment of this calling, and an understanding of what it means to believe in, and practice the Faith. To guide you on this path, the Church requires a period of formation that includes weekly classes, typically beginning in August and culminating at the end of the Easter Season. If you are inquiring about initiation after classes have begun, it may not be too late! Please complete the four steps below, regardless of the time of year.
RCIA sessions are held every Wednesday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM.
There are separate classes available for Adults, for Teenagers (generally ages 14-18), and for Children (generally ages 8-13) - all held in the meeting rooms in the church building at the same time.
There are 4 things you can do to get started:
1) Complete the online parish registration form for your whole family at https://www.sjy.org/join-our-parish. Please be sure to change the # of Family Members to open up the fields for additional members. Please include everyone in your household, regardless of their religious affiliation or interest in initiation into the Catholic Church. (There are fields to complete to specify each family member’s intent.)
2) Complete the RCIA Inquirer Questionairre and submit it to the Coordinator of RCIA, Shelley Schlosser at RCIA@sjy.org.
3) If you have been baptized, send a copy of your baptismal certificate to the Coordinator of RCIA, Shelley Schlosser at RCIA@sjy.org, or bring it to the office to make a copy.
4) Contact Fr. Steve, our pastor to make arrangements to come meet with him face-to-face. It is important to him that he gets to know you personally so that he can best guide you along the way. Fr. Steve handles his own schedule, so please reach out to him directly at Fernandes@sjy.org or call the parish office at 717-755-7503, ext 202. When you meet with Fr. Steve, he will ask you about your faith journey and what leads you to this interest in the RCIA. He will also help you discern when to begin, how long it may take, and how he and the Team will best be able to suit your individual needs.
